The FIA held its first-ever Conference in Uzbekistan from 11-14 June 2024, welcoming over 300 delegates from Member Clubs around the world to Samarkand.
Marking the FIA’s 120th anniversary, the FIA Conference was hosted by FIA Member Club the National Automobile and Karting Federation of Uzbekistan (NAFKU), with support from the Uzbek government and brake supplier Brembo.
The programme combined Conference sessions with governance meetings and key launches, including:
- The FIA Helmet Wearing Programme to promote the use of safe and certified helmets;
- The new FIA Women in Motorsport Mentorship Programme to connect successful female professionals with women wishing to advance or start their careers in motor sport;
- New FIA Affordable Cross Car level 1 and level 2 design blueprints to boost grassroots motor sport.
The FIA also announced a new social impact goal: equal opportunities for all by 2040, complementing its net-zero target.
Delegates participated in a dynamic programme of sessions designed to inform, inspire and strengthen Member Club capabilities. Highlights included celebrations marking the FIA’s 120th anniversary, discussions on innovation in motor sport and mobility, global and regional strategies for accelerating growth, and accessibility and sustainability. Key topics such as the United Against Online Abuse campaign and the FIA’s actions to promote diversity and inclusion, Esports integration, and knowledge sharing through the FIA University were also explored. An open Q&A with the FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem also fostered direct dialogue with Members.
The week closed with the Extraordinary General Assemblies meeting, where Members approved 2023 Activity Report and statutory amendments.

The 2024 FIA General Assemblies week in Kigali, Rwanda, brought together the global FIA community for four days of strategic discussion, exchange and collaboration.
Hosted by Visit Rwanda and the Rwanda Automobile Club from 10-13 December 2024, the event highlighted the Federation’s growing impact and unity across Sport and Mobility.
Across key meetings – including the World Motor Sport Council, the World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, the Membership Benefits Forum and the ASN Forum – Members celebrated achievements, shared insights and shaped future priorities.
A major highlight was the unveiling of an FIA Affordable Cross Car, built locally in Rwanda using FIA-provided blueprints — a milestone moment attended by His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.
The FIA also celebrated the strength of its global community through impactful regional meetings across both Sport and Mobility.
The week concluded with the FIA General Assemblies, where members approved key decisions and reaffirmed their commitment to governance, inclusion, and collective progress.

Focus on the ASN Forum
At the 2024 FIA Conference, the ASN Forum session addressed key topics including digitalisation, motor sport development, education, and funding.
Updates on FIA Motorsport in a Box highlighted its successful implementation in several countries, while FIA Motorsport Funding Programme’s ongoing training initiatives were presented. A panel discussion covered regional motor sport events such as the African Karting Cup, Asia Pacific Karting Championship, and South American Esports Championship. The ASN Development Series was introduced as a flexible framework to support grassroots motor sport. Additionally, the FIA unveiled the Touring Car Lite project, adapting Rally4 and Rally5 cars for circuit racing. The 2024 FIA Motorsport Games were previewed, and the session concluded with the reveal of the FIA Affordable Cross Car level 1 and level 2 design blueprints — a key initiative aimed at increasing motor sport accessibility and talent development worldwide.
The December ASN Forum session, held during the FIA General Assemblies week in Kigali, highlighted the FIA Secretariat General for Sport’s key achievements in 2024. This included a review of 30 events supported by the Vice President for Sport and hosted by affiliated members, ranging from regional sporting events and meetings to global competitions. Key updates were also given on the FIA’s ongoing support for Sport Member Clubs’ growth and changes to the new simplified application scheme for the FIA Motorsport Funding Programme. The development of the FIA University and its educational programmes was highlighted, alongside the General Manager’s vision and priorities for the Federation. The newly approved FIA Global Karting Plan was also presented, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to Karting development.
Focus on the Membership Benefits Forum
In 2024, the most important annual forum for FIA Mobility Members centered on “Unlocking Opportunities, Shaping the Future of Mobility.”
The FIA Secretariat General for Automobile Mobility outlined a forward-looking vision for the future of FIA Mobility, focused on serving Members and ensuring all road users can move in a safe, sustainable, and affordable way.
A panel discussion on advocacy initiatives highlighted the Safe Mobility 4 All and 4 Life initiative, the FIA Road Safety Index and plans to maximise Club engagement and visibility around the then upcoming 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
The Forum also underlined strategies to support Member growth and advance a greener and more inclusive future.
